Remedial electrical work needs to be conducted to ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of our systems including the replacement and testing of upstream MCCB’s on the electrical system which have previously incorrectly tripped.
This work is scheduled to take place within a one hour maintenance window between 05:00 and 05:59 on Thursday, 14th June 2007. We expect one short disruption to the power supply lasting up-to 30 minutes.
All servers will be shutdown at 05:00 in preparation for the work and should be back online by 06:00. During this normal services will be inaccessible. Inbound mail will be queued on our ‘off network’ backup MX.
The Status Website (http://status.yorknetworks.com) will be visible throughout the maintenance/downtime window.
We will be upgrading all web servers today with additional RAM. The work will be conducted between 11:30 and 14:30, which will result in a period of downtime of approximately 10 minutes per server.
We are patching our web servers with immediate effect due to a number of urgent patches released by Microsoft. Access to your website may be interrupted for around 15 minutes during the next 2 hour patching window.
Due to a number of urgent security patches it has become necessary to update the mail system. This will result in a short period of downtime, of approximately 10 minutes lasting until 07:15.
Our telecoms supplier has advised us of an issue that may have resulted in engaged tones being received when calling. They have now advised that they have resolved the underlying problem. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
Today’s server and networking upgrades have allowed us to resolve the slow control panel issues. The new control panel now runs at ‘full speed’, providing a much smoother experience. The upgrades also provide us with the platform to scale and will allow us to upgrade to the latest and much improved version of the control panel software (HELM 4) as soon as we are satisfied that it is stable.
To enable essential maintenance work to be completed at the data centre there will be an outage of approximately 1 hour between 07:00 and 08:00 on Tuesday 2nd January 2007. We anticipate that the downtime will be less than the declared 1 hour window but as a precaution we are declaring an ‘at risk’ window between 06:55 and 09:00 where access to services may be intermittent.
This planned downtime will enable us to complete a number of essential maintenance tasks and in addition will provide the opportunity to introduce additional Dell Poweredge servers in to the server farm and network switches.
This work will impact upon all services except Dialup and Broadband Internet access as they are provisioned seperately.
We have experienced an intermittent connectivity issue over the past 24 hours which has delayed inbound mail to our helpdesk ticketing system and resulted in calls becoming ‘stuck’ in our VoIP based telephone system. This issue did not impact upon the availability of customer email/webites/access, etc as it has seperate connectivity.
The line has now been running stable for several hours and thorough testing of our helpdesk ticketing system and VoIP telephone system this evening has confirmed everything is now fully operational.
We are currently experiencing issues with SATURN, customers may experience difficulties accessing their website if hosted on this server. Engineers are currently investigating.
